WINIFRED THE PUG

Due to the unprecedented number of enquiries from individuals and groups interested in taking this little girl, the management have decided that it is not in the interest of the dog or the Home to offer her for adoption through our normal procedure. Therefore she will NOT be available for adoption or viewing today as previously stated to several people and has been removed from the kennels for her own sake. She will be found a home by other means.

We sincerely apologise to the genuine people who offered a home for her.

Please do not visit the Home to view her today as she is not with us here.

Thank you.

Fireworks! Tips for dog owners

This time of year is often not a happy one for dog owners as many get distressed by the noise. Below are some ideas that may help to get through it as worry-free as possible.

fireworks

Take them out for LOTS of exercise during the day so they are tired in the evening!

Feed them a little earlier than usual if necessary. If they are distressed they may lose their appetite and a full dog is often a tired dog!

Have a safe place for them to go to in the quietest part of the house and close doors and curtains to keep out as much of the noise and bright flashes as possible.

Have the television or radio on slightly louder than usual and play with them to keep them distracted and stimulated. Sometimes a new toy is all it takes to take their mind off everything else!

If you go outside make sure they are closed in another room and if you do take them out make sure they have a collar and ID tag on! There are more lost dogs at this time of year than any other!

Above all, try to act normally yourself. If the thought of a stressed dog makes you stressed then they will know it! Your pet picks up on unusual behaviour and it will put them on edge before the noise starts when they may not have actually been bothered!

2 O’Clock Opening Today

As a sign of respect to the owners The Dogs & Cats Home will not be opening until 2.00pm today.

The Vets, Groomers and Water Walkies is open as usual and Reception will be open for any enquiries, but please note there may be a delay in answering some phone calls.

Thank you for your patience.

Opening Times – Google

google-times2We have had a couple of people this week who have come to view the animals before the kennels are open.                                            When we have spoken to them it appears they have been confused by the opening times advertised by Google when searching for us online.                                              The opening times as advertised on Google are for the Boarding Kennels and Reception/Shop. The kennels open at 11.30am every day (all opening times are kept current on our website and are a little clearer). Unfortunately Google can only advertise one set of opening times so although we could ask them to change them this would then be misleading to boarding clients and people who need to visit the shop.

We apologise for any confusion – if you need to check anything with us please feel free to telephone and we will be happy to help!

Can you offer Amelia a home?

Amelia is looking for someone to give her some home comforts! She is estimated to be approximately 10-12 years old and is suffering with a bit of arthritis now. She came to us through the wardens from the Hindley area and sadly nobody has come looking for her.Amelia

She is a very sweet dog and deserves a kind, loving home where she can potter around and enjoy the rest of her life.

Could this be you?

Please contact us or call in to meet Amelia if you think you could help. (please note, we would like her to go to a home, rather than another kennels).
